Shopware 6 SEO – URLs, Headless and Migrations

Shopware is a platform for mid-to-large e-commerce — often chosen by brands selling across multiple markets. I've worked with it from the vendor side and with implementation partners, so I know both its strengths (Sales Channels, internationalisation, flexibility) and the strategic challenge of recent months: end of Shopware 5 support and preparing the migration to 6 without losing visibility.

Based on the official documentation: shopware.com — SEO in Shopware.

Built-in SEO engine and SEO URL templates (Shopware 6)

Shopware 6 exposes SEO URL template configuration for products and categories — with a rich variable set — globally or per Sales Channel. A real tool for deliberate URL design across many markets and languages.

  • SEO URL templates per Sales Channel — different rules for DACH, PL, UK, etc.
  • Rule Builder and Flow Builder for dynamic product groups and automation.
  • Storefront vs headless / PWA — different SSR, prerender and data-structure requirements.
  • Structured data, hreflang and canonicals tuned for international sales.

Shopware 5 — end of vendor support

Shopware officially communicates the wind-down of version 5 support. For stores this means planning the migration to Shopware 6 together with a 1:1 redirect map, content audit and index control during transition.

  • Audit of current visibility and 5 → 6 URL mapping.
  • Migration schedule covering SEO, dev and marketing.
  • Plan to protect rankings of the most important categories and products.

Working with implementation partners

Shopware is a partner platform — most rollouts are delivered by partners like Macopedia or X One. Effective SEO requires plugging the SEO roadmap into the partner's dev roadmap from the very first sprint.

My approach

What I bring to the project

  • Shopware 6 audit covering SEO URL templates, Sales Channels and multilingual setup.
  • Migration strategy from Shopware 5 to 6 protecting organic visibility.
  • Support for headless / PWA teams — SSR, prerender, data structure.
  • Working with implementation partners (Macopedia, X One) at the roadmap level.
